The town of Mallnitz is embedded in the Hohe Tauern National Park and lies at an altitude of 1,200m embedded in the Hohe Tauern Mounatins.
It covers an area of about 110 square km. The community consists of the villages Mallnitz, Stappitz, Rabisch, and Dösen.
